A Missionary to Match Our Mountains

Well Hello!
This past week was amazing!
Last Tuesday my district was able to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and it was an amzing experience.  You can see the temple from anywhere in my area and I was so glad that I was able to go inside and feel the wonderful spirit there.
Last Friday we had a Mission-Wide Fireside, and President Chamber's cousin came to speak to us.  As we pulled into the Mission Office parking lot, a limo was pulling out and Sister Gough said "It must be President Monson!" It wasn't President Monson but it was a really inspiring Fireside.  President Chamber's cousin reached the summit of Mount Everest May of 2012.  He told us all about his journey.  He was gone for 2 months, hiking up this 29,000 foot mountain.  He was only on the summit for 12 minutes.  It was such a cool experience to hear him talk about all of the training and preparation it took to accomplish his goal.  He told us that even though he was only on the top for 12 minutes, the journey was what really changed him.  He testified that we can do hard things, and that if we find joy in the journey that's where we can learn the things that Heavenly Father wants us to learn while we are here on the earth.  And once we reach our summit (Eternal Life), we can stay for eternity.  Then President Chambers ended by telling us that we can do hard things, and the Lord knows we can too.  That's why He sent us here to the Valley.  He needed misisonaries who could match our mountains.  I loved that, and I will always remember that.  After he spoke all of the missionaries got to talk with one another, and I saw all of my friends from the MTC :) it was really fun!  Then they kicked all of the Elders out and the Sisters had dinner together and President Chambers spoke to us again.  It was a great day.
So I know I mentioned that I might be able to go to the Women's Broadcast- we weren't able to go :( we needed to have an investigator to go, so we watched it at our Stake Center.  But we were glad to be with the Sisters in our Stake since we hardly know anyone.  It was a great meeting.  I absolutely loved it!  I loved the music and the messages were perfect.  It was so cool to be part of the first General Women's Meeting and I am so blessed to be a part of the Women of the Gospel.
Yesterday we were able to speak in Sacrament Meeting and explain how we decided to come on missions with another sister who is leaving to Japan in a couple weeks.  She already knows 5 languages!  It was interesting to hear her story and the struggles she went through before coming to know that she needed to serve a mission, as well as Sister Gough's story.  I have a testimony that Heavenly Father has a plan for us, and that if we are doing the small things every day- reading our scriptures, praying, and going to church- we will receive answers to our prayers.  He will help you know what to do in your life.  Sister Gough had me read a talk by Elder Holland titled "Missionary Work and the Atonement" that I quoted in my talk.  It is so good.  I highly recommend anyone to read it!  It really helped me and strengthened my testimony.

You're welcome-hope you stopped crying once you tasted the chocolate ;) I'm glad you liked it, I thought you would.  We just found those family stickers in our apartment when we moved in haha!  I'm going to send more pictures of the Temple and stuff so get ready! We have not busted out the bikes yet because 1. we're scared to ride bikes in skirts and 2. Sister Gough's bike doesn't have a lock.  So maybe eventually we will but this week we have the car anyway.  I wonder if Elder Ramos did feel any earthquakes...hm....Oh my goodness I am so sorry it keeps snowing!  That sounds horrible.  The weather this past week wasn't that great either.  It was cloudy and raining most of the week but lots of people gave us rides so that was good.  Someone here was just asking me about the Cherry Blossoms and I'm assuming they're all just frozen solid by now.  I'm glad Dad's trip was good and that Juke was alright :) how is everything going with them?  Work is good?  School is good?  That's weird about your new found vegetarianism haha.  You and Juke can be buddies :) I hope besides the meat that you're doing alright.
Say hello to the ghost for me.  I'll be looking forward to some especially choice pictures from the Wight Fam.  We have dinner appointments every day at 5 except for pday, but we usually have a dinner appointment that day too.
We have tickets to the Sat Afternoon session for Conference, but we need an investigator to go so pray that we find one in less than a week!  Hopefully we can go, Sister Gough has never been.

I love this area.  It is awesome.  The people are great and the area is beautiful.  Sister Gough is a lot of fun, too.  I think she would love a tshirt if you feel so inclined haha ;) We have a bunch of less actives that we are teaching, a lot like in Sandy.  But I really like working with inactive and less active people, a lot of the time they need more help than the people who aren't members of the church.

I can't wait until Mother's Day either :) it will be awesome!  I miss you and love you!

Well, that's pretty much it!  I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week!  You're always in my prayers.

Love,
Sister Wight :)
PS- Pray that we will find someone to take to Conference!

***Frankly, I'm a little scared for Leslea to ride a bike:)  She was about 15 when she learned--haha, just kidding-but it did take her a long time!  Notice the sign below-maybe Leslea should stay off her bike in order to "protect the children."  Leslea's friend Elder Ramos is close to where they had the earthquake in Orange County.  Haven't heard whether he felt it or not.  Ah, the cherry blossoms.  Well, it has been the week of the cherry blossom festival and we have had snow twice--including the day of the parade and a torrential rainstorm and 40 mile an hour winds the day of the kite festival.  Needless to say, the cherry blossoms will not be at peak for a couple weeks.***

Leslea sent us this package last week--it has a program from the baptism a few weeks ago, some chocolate, some pictures and a letter.  Notice the "family" stickers;) I'm not a fan of the "stick family" things people put on their cars, so I told Leslea that last week I got a sticker of a T-Rex eating a family and it says "your stick family was delicious"  so she was mocking me-haha.  Can't imagine where she gets that.
